Jillian Chambliss

Where are you from?

Originally from Houston, Texas, but I Joined the military when I was 18 and got stationed out in San Diego, CA. I’ve been here ever since.

Where do/did you go to high school/college?

Katy Highschool in Katy, Tx

I attended college while in the military and when I got out of the navy I obtained my Associates Degree. I plan on finishing up my bachelors soon. I also graduated Cosmetology School and have my cosmetology license. I can do both hair and makeup.

How would you describe your professional interests?

I love learning new tasks and seeing how things work and are run. I can see my self owning a business eventually. I’m always thinking of new ideas.

What's your background in modeling?

I started modeling at age 12 for page parkes in Houston, Tx. At age 18 I joined the Navy and served for four years. I picked back up modeling at age 22 when I got out of the military and have been doing it ever since.

When and why did you get started?

When I was 12 I took a commercial print and acting class at page parkes in Houston, Texas. I knew I loved being in front of the camera.

Was it for the glamour?

It was for the excitement of catching that perfect shot and being proud of it.

Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?

Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn I look up to to the older classic generation. That was a fun era. I wish I could live back in those days for a day.

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic I don’t have a certain style I wear what looks good and it doesn’t have to be brand name. I like to shop at thrift stores because no one will have your style and you can pick out unique clothing.

What is fun and rewarding about modeling?

Being able to capture a moment through the lense.

The body is an artpiece and I love being able to express my body and capture art.

What do you dislike about modeling?

That people think they have to have a certain body type to model. Everyone has beautiful bodies. Thin, curvy, thick. We are all beautiful.

What advice do you have for other aspiring models?

Keep practicing and never give up. Be proud of your look and love your body and yourself. Practice your poses and know which angles your body looks best. Most of all be confident and act like you know your stuff. Act confident and it will show in your photos.

How do you prepare for a modeling shoot?

I like to get my mind off things and focus on the theme of the shoot. I try and really get into character for each shoot. I listen to music before shots and get into the mindset and picture getting a great shot out of the scene.

How would you describe working with the photographer?

A good photographer knows how to capture good angles and isn’t afraid to adventure off to find a killer spot for a background shot. They have patience and aren’t afraid to go the extra mile or take extra time for an excellent shot.

What makes a stylish lady or man?

It all comes from having the confidence to rock whatever you want.

What comments do you have about frugal fashion--smart or petty?

I think frugal fashion is smart in this day and age. I love going thrift store shopping. I can find things no one else has, and it’s such a thrill to find hidden gems. I get more compliments when I wear my thrift store clothes, no lie!

What's your favorite part of your body?

I like my hips and legs.

What turns you off?

Egotistical people

I like personality over looks. You can be a 10 but if you can’t hold a conversation.. bye.

What turns you on?

Intelligence, creativity, kindness, a good smile, kind heart
